Passwords

What happens if I forget my password?  
Call First Consulting at 1-800-927-2730 and ask for On-Line Research assistance, or email us at fca@firstconsulting.com.  We will then assign you a new password.
 
What if I don’t know my “User Name”?

Call First Consulting at 1-800-927-2730 and ask for On-Line Research assistance, or email us at fca@firstconsulting.com.  We will be happy to give you your User Name.

Will I have to change my password after a set period of time?  
No, as long as you don't forget your password or request a change, then it won’t change.
 
What happens if I haven’t used my password in quite awhile?
Nothing, it stays the same and does not have a preset termination date.

General

What if I need immediate help? 
Call First Consulting at 1-800-927-2730 and ask for On-Line Research assistance during normal business hours, or email us at fca@firstconsulting.com.
 
When is information updated?
Please note that our goal is to update all research summaries as soon as we are aware of a change.  Please contact us if you are aware of a change not yet noted.
 
How does someone new at my Company get access to this research?
Please contact First Consulting at 800-927-2730 to discuss additional access to a summary that your company has already purchased.
 
My email address has changed.  Does this make a difference? 
Yes.  Notices, confirmations, alerts, updates, etc. are all sent to the email address we have on file for you.  Please notify First Consulting, and we’ll see that your email address is updated in our records.
 
Why am I getting an “Error” page?
There could be a couple of reasons for this, but try logging out and back in.  If this continues to occur, then please contact First Consulting at 1-800-927-2730 and ask for On-Line Research assistance, or email us at fca@firstconsulting.com.
 
Why is the “Log Out” button not working?
Most likely you are using Firefox as your web browser.  The Log Out button will not work with Firefox.  You will need to simply close the internet window to log out.

Searching

What are my searching options? 
You can either search for a single word within a document, or you can search for a phrase within a document.
To search for a single word, or multiple words within documents, then simply enter those words into the Document Search field.  Note that this will give you every document that has both of those words in it.
To search for a phrase, you should enter your phrase in the Document Search field and add quotation marks to both the beginning and end of the phrase.  This type of search will only return documents that have all the words in the phrase, and in the exact order as they appeared in your search.

Printing/Emailing

How can I print a document?
With the document open, simply click on the Print button within your web browser.
How can I email a document to a co-worker?
All of the "research" documents on our website are PDF documents.  Therefore, all you need to do is open the document you want to save, from the Menu bar, select "File", "Save As", select the location on your computer where you want to save the document, then click "Save".  Now simply create an email from your email system and attach your newly saved document.

Navigating

How do I find information for a particular state or topic?
You can either use the Document Search feature, or if the summary is in "notebook" format you can open subfolders until you get to the information you are looking for.  To open a portion of a "notebook", simply click on the pertinent link (highlighted and underlined), and it will then display subfolders contained within. If those subfolders are also highlighted and underlined, then they too are links that can be further opened to display additional subfolders or documents.
